Big tooth lizard man and zombie worms. These are the 20 scariest sea creatures you won’t believe exist. Number 20 is lizard man. This creature looks just as terrifying as it sounds. The lizard man is one of the the most feared creatures in the US.
It haunts the escape or swamp in South Carolina. Residents of the town started noticing teeth marks, scratches and hairs on their vehicles. Eyewitnesses said it was green, wet and about 7ft tall. Others said that it had three fingers, red eyes and scaly lizard skin. I’m staying far away from that swamp.
Number 19 is the Montauk monster. This one is not for the fainthearted. On a beach in 2008 in New York, some girls found an absolutely gruesome creature. It looked like a dog, but with long, sharp claws and a long, dark beak. Eyewitness said it seemed like a demon and had a particularly foul stench.
What adds to the mystery of this creature is that it was found near a government animal testing facility. There is definitely more to this story than meets the eye. Number 18 is Trunko. This unidentified blob of rotting flesh washed up on the beaches of South Africa in 1924. Eyewitnesses said the stench of this creature could knock you out.
The creature baffled scientists who saw it. They had never seen anything like it. Reports say the creature was covered in white fur and had huge, sharp teeth. Local legends at the time believed it was a cross between a polar bear and a whale. Creepy.
Number 17 is the flesh eating lamprey. This sea creature will make you want to run for your life. This animal is known as the zombie fish because it prefers to feed on the blood and flesh of live animals and humans. Often the lamprey will stick its fangs into the neck and suck the blood of its victim, killing it quickly. Old myths and legends used to believe the sea creature was a vampire, but in fish form.
Either way, I’d rather avoid it. Number 16 is the giant squid. This secretive ocean creature lives in the deepest parts of the unknown. Only a few people have ever seen one. Most information about these creatures came from studying their dead bodies.
When they wash up on shore, they grow up to 10 meters long and have feeding tentacles the size of full grown humans. That’s enough to give them nightmares. Number 15 is the fang tooth fish. The deep sea is home to some of the scariest animals on Earth. The fangtooth fish is no exception.
It has some of the largest teeth ever seen on a sea creature. They are so big and sharp, it can’t even close its mouth. The fang tooth is one of the most aggressive hunters in the world, often devouring animals twice its size in one bite. It doesn’t look like he brushes those teeth very much, though. Number 14 is the flesheating peyara.
This is the ultimate river monster. The peyura is a large, extremely vicious animal which only eats live flesh. Its sharp fangs can puncture the heart and lungs of its victims in seconds. It can devour fish or humans much bigger than it in only a few bites. Once meeting with this guy and it is bye bye.
Number 13 is Niggins. A fishing boat off the coast of Antarctica spotted a strange creature deep under the water. Eyewitness accounts described a creature as a mixture between a human and a whale. There are even Google Maps images of this scary creature in the Pacific Ocean. Some say it has arms and legs.
Others said it had tentacles longer than they’ve ever seen spooky. Number twelve is Bigtooth. This giant beast roamed the seas hundreds of millions of years ago. Its name came from its sharp teeth, which could rip through any animal in seconds. Bigtooth could apparently devour a blue whale in one swift bite.
That’s how big this creature is. Scientists believe Big truth was extinct. But several eyewitness reports mean it could still be roaming the depths of the abyss. Yikes. Number eleven, the Webbed Monster.
A submarine deep in the ocean caught something absolutely terrifying on camera. In the picture, you can see a creature emerge from the darkness. It approaches the window of this submarine, where you can see its webbed hand and lizard like face. The crew said it was five times larger than a human hand. The worst part, it’s shriek.
That would honestly make your blood go cold. Number ten is the Loch Ness Monster. The first sighting of this giant monster happened over 1000 years ago. It is said to inhabit the deepest, darkest parts of the Loch Ness in Scotland. People who have seen it say it has dark black scaly and is larger than any truck or bus.
Some stories say the monster feeds on human blood and flesh. Others say prefers fish and wildlife within the lock. For our sake, let’s hope it’s a vegetarian. Number nine is Frogman. This supernatural creature was spotted for the first time in 1955 in a Colorado lake.
Reports say the creature looks like part alien, part frog, with glowing green eyes and a strange face. The worst part about this creature, sightings of it have always been linked to the disappearance of local people. Number eight is the Ogopogo Lake Monster. This sea monster is the stuff of legends in Canada. Locals who have seen the monster say it is over 40ft long with five dark black humps along its body.
Its tail is said to slash violently in the water, giving it immense speed. Experts say can cut through the water at 25, catch its victims. I will definitely not be taking a dip in that lake. Number seven is the Spanish reptile. This absolutely huge reptile was captured emerging from the water in Spain.
It was reported to be over 50ft tall, with scaly skin and spikes. Locals believed it has lived in the sea for centuries. But experts have cast doubt over the footage, saying they believed it was fake. What’s your take on it? Number six is the world’s oldest sea monster.
This ancient monster has lurked in the depths of lake Chamberlain in Vermont. For years, this supernatural creature has terrified locals and been involved in several deaths and disappearances. It is a 15 foot long reptile with dark black scales all over its body. Those who have seen it say it moves slowly, then it moves fast to attack before disappearing back down to the depths of the lake. Number five are giant isopods.
Giant isopods are crustaceans that live in the darkest parts of the ocean. These monstrous sea cockroaches can grow to over 2ft long. That’s bigger than a lot of dogs. They feed on animals, dead or alive. They’re not picky.
They often feed on fish caught in nets who can’t get away. I mean, I get shivers even looking at the sky. Number four is the aspirculogne. The aspirin kellogne is said to be a 100 foot long giant turtle who roams the darkest, deepest parts of the ocean. Hundreds of sightings of this turtle have been reported in folklore, but no real life footage currently exists.
I used to think turtles were kind of cute, but not this guy. Number three is the sea alien. This creature would seriously stop me ever getting back into the ocean. Scientists off the coast of Africa spotted the creature never seen before. It was a ten foot long squidlike creature with huge tentacles and glowing yellow skin.
The scariest thing about this creature, this added features like no other animal known to man. Is this the first sighting of a sea alien? Number two are the French swamp monsters. In 2012, French tourists got the fright of their life when they visited a local swamp. Punched over in the middle of the water were two zombielike figures.
These figures were pale, thin, and looked like skeletons. Witnesses said they seem to have been frozen in time. Experts say their bodies do not appear to be human. Blah. Number one are zombie worms.
These real life zombies exist so far into the abyss, almost nothing is known about them. Scientists say they show almost no signs of life. Just like zombies, their preferred food groups are bones and brains of dead animals that lie on the seabed. At any time, there could be over 5 million zombie worms eating one animal.
