Montreal – Tomorrow, dozens of PETA protesters will walk to Canada Goose’s flagship store in Montreal to demand that the company stop using feathers from dead birds and coyotes caught in steel traps. The protest is part of a week of action that includes the Canada Goose protests in Beverly Hills, California; Boston; New York; Pittsburgh; and other places.
When: Saturday 6 March 12:00
Where: Canada Goose, 1020 Saint-Catherine St. W., Montreal
“PETA is doing its best this week to rally shoppers against Canada Goose fur and feather coats,” said PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “When it comes to feeling pain, loving our families and appreciating our lives, birds and coyotes are no different from humans, and continuing to profit from the violent death of animals when there are so many wonderful, ruthless options available is unforgivable.”
PETA notes that trapped coyotes can die from exposure to the elements, blood loss, infection, or attacks by predators before hunters return to kill them. Geese and ducks used for down are usually stuffed into crates and sent to slaughterhouses in all weather conditions, where they are stunned, throats cut and dipped in burning tanks for emptying.
PETA – whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours” – opposes arrogance, a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
