Lake Oswego, Oregon. – For warning her new guardians, Sandy and Mike Martin, about a dangerous natural gas leak in their home, a local cat named Lilly is honored Heroic Cat Reward from PETA.
The Martin family began raising 3-year-old Lilly in November after being dumped by her previous owner, and they soon officially adopted her. And on February 12, she saved them back: she sniffed the valve of their gas fireplace until they realized that there was a leak, and the gas company was able to urgently come to the place and close it before the disaster struck.
“Lilly’s determination and curiosity averted a potentially tragic situation,” says PETA vice president Colleen O’Brien. PETA Celebrates This Heroic Cat For Demonstrating only how saving can the adoption of an animal be. “
About 70 million cats and dogs in the United States are homeless at any given time. An estimated 10% of them end up in animal shelters, where many end up being euthanized for reasons including injury, illness, old age, emotional and psychological damage, and lack of good homes. This is why PETA stands for parenting and adoption and encourages guardians to neuter or neuter their companion animals and pay attention to what they say.
PETA – whose motto, among other things, is that “animals are not ours to be abused in any way,” and which opposes arrogance, a worldview based on human superiority – sends Lilly a framed certificate and a basket full of treats and toys.
