New York is a place that boldly embraces the changing seasons, but the new Brood X cicadas may leave the public a little less popular. These insects have bright red eyes and look a lot like locusts, but fear not! They just come out of a prolonged sleep, even if they come in massive flocks.

This is not a plague or a premonition – this is simply the awakening of Brood X after 17 years of inactivity. Previously, cicadas lived underground, and only the warmth of spring allows them to be released into the air around. Although they are expected in many southeastern states, the news station does not expect to be seen in the vicinity of Buffalo.
