Fairbanks, Alaska – For Valentine’s Day, PETA scoured the country for Best Vegan Sweets– and Fairbanks’ own Little Owl Café ranked on the list for his vegan vanilla cappuccino muffin with lush icing and cinnamon topping.
“The award-winning Little Owl Café makes it easy for chickens and cows to enjoy,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “All PETA bakeries prove that love matters. fare on this Valentine’s Day. “
In the dairy industry, calves are torn from their mothers shortly after birth, and in the egg industry, chicks are cut off with a hot blade when they are only a few days old. Every person who goes vegan also lowers the risk of heart disease, diabetes, obesity, and cancer; dramatically reduces the carbon footprint; and helps prevent future epidemics and pandemics – SARS, swine flu, avian influenza, and COVID-19 – all stemming from keeping and killing animals for food.
Other winners on PETA’s list include Dulce Vegan Bakery & Café in Atlanta, Quincy Bake Shop in Oklahoma City, and Sea Salt & Cinnamon in Muncie, Indiana. Each diner will receive a PETA framed certificate that offers: free vegan dessert recipes for Valentine’s Day on its website along with a selection of sweet gifts from PETA store…
