Angels – She had nothing but a huge avocado covering her bump, American beauty actor Mena suvari stars in PETA’s new campaign for the benefits of healthy vegan pregnancies.
For Suvari, who has been a vegan since 2017, plant-based pregnancy was the obvious choice.
“With everything I know about the brutality of the meat industry and the health benefits of going vegan, I knew I wanted to raise my son to be a kind, loving and empathetic person, and I think it could start with the way we eat family “She tells PETA.
Every person who goes vegan saves the lives of nearly 200 animals each year and significantly reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity. A healthy vegan diet of leafy green vegetables, nuts, seeds, lentils, beans, whole grains, and flax seeds provides an excellent source of iron, folate, omega-3 fatty acids and other nutrients that parent-to-be needs without any either saturated animal fat or cholesterol.
Suvari is on PETA’s long list of friends, including Laura Clery, Danielle Monet, Emily Deschanel, and Suvari American woman partner Alicia Silverstone– who spoke openly about the benefits of a healthy vegan pregnancy.
PETA, whose motto is in part that “the animals are not ours to eat,” opposes specisism, which is a worldview focused on human excellence. For more information please visit PETA.org or subscribe to the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram…
