Jamestown, Pennsylvania. – See the following statement by the PETA Foundation’s Deputy General Counsel for Captive Enforcement Brittany Peet regarding Monday night’s deadly fire at Pymatuning Deer Park:
Just two months after PETA notified Pymatuning Deer Park of the group’s intention to sue a roadside zoo for cruelty to endangered animals, one of these animals died: Lola, a highly social lemur who lived and died in solitary confinement because this decrepit outfit could not stand it. don’t let PETA arrange for her to be transferred to a reputable animal care facility. If the roadside zoo learns any of these deaths, it will allow PETA to find suitable homes for the surviving animals before it’s too late for them, too.
Another animal that Pymatuning refused to let PETA find a new home is Bosco, a bear that has been chained to an outdated concrete pit for decades and is now showing signs of arthritis, a condition that also haunted the bear that was chained to him. before her death. The Roadside Zoo received an official warning from the USDA in 2016 for over a dozen violations of federal animal welfare laws, including keeping bears in concrete pits, but refused to end the practice.
