John Blinkow
CEO and President
Orbital assembly
Dear Mr. Blinkow:
I am writing on behalf of PETA and over 6.5 million of our members and supporters around the world, including many thousands across California, in response to the exciting news that Voyager will open in 2027. We welcome your daring plans, and we have a Request: Please whether you serve exclusively vegan food at the station so that guests who do not consume meat, eggs or dairy for ethical, environmental, medical or religious reasons can enjoy their stay. while others are encouraged to choose products from environmentally friendly, healthy and out of this world menu?
With a growing awareness of the many challenges here on Earth, we are all encouraged to explore our personal impact on the resources of this planet and strive to be more empathetic. This social calculation must include thinking about all the deeply disturbing ways in which animals are harmed. The throats of chickens and turkeys are slit while they are still conscious, the piglets are not given pain relievers before their testicles are removed, the fish are suffocated or cut while they are still alive, and the calves are forcibly taken from their adoring mothers within hours of birth.
The popularity of Voyager’s vegan station is likely to exceed expectations, as the number of vegans has grown by 3000% over the past 15 years and continues to grow. Since the start of the pandemic, 23% of Americans have started eating more non-abused foods, and sales of vegan products in the United States surged 90% in the midst of the pandemic. Avoiding meat and dairy products is also better for your customers’ health. Eating dairy and meat, especially processed meat, has been linked to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity. Vegan meals are healthier, high in fiber and cholesterol free.
Freeze-dried ice cream without milk is already a reality, and The Herbivorous Butcher is creating vegan food for astronauts on Mars. NASA’s own plans for a proposed mission to Mars with a human crew include a 100% vegan menu to provide astronauts with healthy food in space.
Thanks for attention. We look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Ingrid Newkirk
The president
