Anchorage, Alaska – As Millennium Hotels and Resorts continues to sponsor Iditarod even though other companies have dropped their support, PETA covered People Mover buses in the city center ahead of the race with ads targeting a company that features a dog named Snickers chained to Property of Champion Iditarod.
Secret PETA investigation in the “nurseries” of champions Iditarod the drovers for the first time captured the image. Snickers suffered from painful arthritis for years, including when she led John Baker’s team to victory in 2011, but was chained 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on an icy sea, limping and screaming constantly.
“Imagine giving hotel guests only a shabby box or barrel to protect them from freezing wind and rain, but this is what Millennium Hotels finds acceptable for dogs who want nothing more than a warm night in bed.” says the executive vice president of PETA. Tracy Reiman. PETA urges Millennium to accept 21st century and stop supporting this cruel, archaic race. “
Following PETA campaigns, Jack daniels, Coca Cola, Wells Fargoand Alaska Airlines dropped support for Iditarod. ExxonMobil, a major sponsor of Iditarod, donating $ 250,000 a year, has confirmed that 2021 will be the last year he will support the race. Craft Sportswear, Medical Park Family Careand Anchorage Distillery also severed ties.
