Canadian actor Ryan Grantham has been sentenced to life in prison for the shooting death of his mother, the former child actor, who has appeared in Riverdale and Diary of a Wimpy Kid previously pled guilty to second-degree murder in March 2022.
In addition to the life sentence, the 24 year old will not be eligible for parole until serving 14 years behind bars.
Grantham’s attorney Chris Johnson tells e-news in a statement quote since Ryan was arrested. He has worked really hard to turn his life around. He’s received a lot of psychological assistance and he has struggled with what he’s done and facing that, but he hopes to be able to dedicate the rest of his life to making amends.
Prosecutors said Grantham shot his Mother, Barbara, in the back of the head in March 2020, as she played the piano in their home, his lawyer previously said that mental illness played a factor in Grantham’s choices.
In 2019, Grantham, notably guest star art, on the CW’s Riverdale playing Jeffrey Augustine, who killed Luke, Perry’s character, Fred Andrews in a hit and run accident.
He has also appeared in the films Becoming Redwood and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.
