San Diego – As kids today go vegan, speak out against animal cruelty, and come up with all sorts of creative ways to help animals in their communities and beyond, PETA Kids is launching its first Animal Contest Stars Match– and local favorite Maya’s Cookies will treat the winner to a batch of his delicious vegan creations every month for a year. Anyone aged 12 and under who cares about animals and do not eat, wear or use them in any other way can take part in the competition.
“PETA Kids is delighted to join forces with Maya’s Cookies to treat the star-studded animal with treats that are as delicious as they are humane,” says Martha Holmberg, PETA Senior Director of Youth Programs. “All inspiring children who participate in our competition are wise beyond their years and doughevery day they do everything in their power to make the world a better place for animals. “
The All-Star Pet Contest is an updated version of PETA Kids’ previous Sweetest Vegan Baby Contest. Previous winners and runners-up have included a gymnast, wrestler and soccer player, all of whom believed that vegan nutrition helped them become strong and fit; a kindergarten student who designed his own vegan T-shirts; and a 10-year-old girl who encouraged her teacher and classmates to go vegan.
The nomination round ends on June 2, public voting to determine the finalists ends on June 14, and the vote to determine the winner and runner-up ends on June 25. Children will be notified and posted on the PETA Kids website by June. 29. In addition to the monthly cookie delivery, the winner will receive a PETA Kids gift pack and a unique reward.
