1. Four poachers arrested for killing six lions with poison in the Queen Elizabeth National Park of Uganda
Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) released statement announcing that four people have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder six lions. The organization reported that 26-year-old Brian Ampurira, 49-year-old Tumuhir Vincent, 40-year-old Aliye Robert and 68-year-old Miliango Davi were arrested last night during a joint operation organized by UWA, UPDF. and the police in Kyanyabutongo Village, Rusorosa Rural Municipality, Kihihi Sub District, Kanungu District.
According to the UWA, the suspects took the security team to the site where three lion heads were found hidden in a tree and a fourth was buried. Terrible, but 15 legs were found under the same tree. The suspects said they dropped one leg in the park.
On a banana plantation, three bottles of the chemical commonly known as Furadan and a two-liter canister of lion fat were found. Two spears, one panga and one hunting net were found hidden in the garden of Tumuhir Vincent’s house.
On Monday evening, the UWA received reliable information about individuals suspected of involvement in the killing of lions. A joint UPDF, police and UWA operation that culminated in the arrest of four suspects. The suspects will be prosecuted in the Ugandan courts.

2. Musical legend Cher, co-founder of Free The Wild, sends a letter to the Edmonton Valley Zoo, offering aid to a 45-year-old elephant named Lucy.
For the last 40 years, asian elephant named Lucy lived in subartic conditions for Edmonton Valley Zoo at Alberta, Canada. Cher, co-founder of an animal welfare organization Free the wilderness sent a letter to the zoo offering to help Lucy by sending an independent elephant expert to examine her and determine her health.
After some follow-up correspondence between Free The Wild and the zoo director, they were advised that their expert veterinarian’s credentials would be reviewed for a joint assessment of Lucy’s condition at her next assessment.
Free The Wild has no bathing area, no mud to wallow in, or trees to scratch on, so she is committed to working with the Edmonton Valley Zoo to find a peaceful solution to secure Lucy’s release. Although 45 years, Lucy appreciated 15-20 years old left her life.

AT US Fisheries and Wildlife Service offers a combined reward of up to USD 37,000 for information leading to a conviction in relation to the suspicious death of a Mexican gray wolf found in Apache Sitgreaves National Forest, near Igara, Arizona.
According to statement freed by the Service, federal law enforcement officers removed the wolf carcass from Saffel Canyon Road on the February 19. The service is looking for information about a vehicle “that has stopped or moved slowly near Trailhead Suffel Canyon in the evening 18th of Febuary.
The killing of a Mexican wolf is a violation of Arizona and federal endangered species law and may result in a federal criminal penalty of up to $ 50,000, a year in prison, or a civil fine of up to $ 25,000.
